Ekehagen Ancient Village is an open-air archaeological museum, and one of the largest ancient villages in Scandinavia! Using reconstructed milieus, guided tours and activities, we bring prehistoric times to life. Along the beautiful natural path through the village you will find settlements with houses and huts from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages.

Apart from the ancient dwellings, Ekehagen also includes a kitchen garden, the ‘prehistoric store cupboard’, with naturally growing herbs and cultivated garden produce.
The animal pens are home to the village’s wild boars and Linderöd pigs, whilst cows and sheep are allowed to wander around freely.

Cafe and restaurant

Recharge the batteries at Ekehagen’s Café before again venturing out into prehistoric times. We serve hot food, sandwiches, home-baked cakes, ice cream, and hot and cold drinks. Bon appetit!

You can also bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the village or in the picnic area near the carpark.

What can we do at Ekehagen Ancient Village?

A day during the summer season

On a normal day, you explore the ancient village independently, with a map and access to unmanned activities. Find out what it would be like to work as an archaeologist in the Archaeology School, paddle a dugout canoe, dig and sow in the Stone Age farmer’s field, play games or sports, or watch the animals. And more! Every day, you can try archery; our guide will show you what to do.
